Our Story
Established in 1997, ACFE New Zealand is the New Zealand Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Today, our community extends across the country through our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch branches.
Our members include Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs), Associate Members and professionals with an interest in preventing, detecting and responding to fraud. They bring together experience from different professions and sectors, creating a community where people can learn from one another, exchange ideas and build connections with others working in or alongside the anti-fraud profession.
As the local Chapter, our focus is on making that connection relevant here in New Zealand, while providing members with a link to the knowledge, resources and professional community available through ACFE Global.
What We Do
ACFE New Zealand provides a forum for members to connect, share knowledge and continue developing their professional capability.
Our programme includes events, presentations, specialist training and networking opportunities covering fraud prevention, detection, investigation and related areas. Recent Chapter activities demonstrate the breadth of this programme, with topics including ethics, corruption risk, fraud and scams prevention, modern slavery, insolvency and investigative interviewing.
We also aim to create opportunities for members to hear directly from experienced practitioners, discuss emerging issues and learn from the experiences of others across different industries and professions.
Whether through a local branch event or a national initiative, our aim is to provide practical and relevant opportunities for our members to learn, contribute and stay connected.
Part of a Global Community
ACFE New Zealand is part of the wider Association of Certified Fraud Examiners community.
ACFE Global is the world's largest anti-fraud organisation, with more than 100,000 members and over 200 chapters worldwide. It provides the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential, training and professional development, fraud resources and opportunities for anti-fraud professionals to connect globally.
Our role as the New Zealand Chapter complements this by providing opportunities for members to connect and participate locally, while remaining part of the wider international ACFE community.
For information about ACFE Global membership, the CFE credential, international training and global resources, visit ACFE Global.
Our Branches
ACFE New Zealand has three branches: Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Each branch is supported by local officers and provides opportunities for members to connect through events, professional development, networking and knowledge sharing.
While members are connected with a local branch, ACFE New Zealand operates as a national community. Members are welcome to attend events hosted by other branches, helping create connections and share knowledge across the wider membership. The Chapter's current Events page expressly notes that members may attend any branch meeting when they are in the area.

Our Board
ACFE New Zealand is governed by a volunteer Board that supports the Chapter and its members across New Zealand.
The Board oversees the activities and direction of the Chapter, working alongside our local branch officers to support member engagement, events and other Chapter initiatives.
